Regulation Updates for August:

1. Malaysia authority SIRIM announced on July 13, 2023, the continued issuance of the interim approval with 1 year validity for IPv6 cellular devices without WIFI interface or IPv6 equipment over another medium (such as fiber optic, with the exception of Ethernet LAN).

2. Egypt authority NTRA has updated their Type Approval Procedures and updated the lab list. The Guided Scheme, which was applicable for local manufacturers only, was removed. Now there are only three schemes: Light, Intermediate, and Tight.

3. Kuwait authority CITRA published Resolution No. 297/2023, banning the importation of telecommunications devices that operate only on 2G/3G starting September 1, 2023.

4. There are several news update from India TEC:

- Extending the mandatory security testing requirement for all Wi-Fi customer premises equipment (CPE) and IP routers from July 1, 2023, to January 1, 2023.

- Extending the deadline for the 32 products under MTCTE Phase III to comply with requirements from July 1, 2023, to October 1, 2023, and the deadline for the 12 products under Phase IV from July 1, 2023, to January 1, 2024. Also, for products that can use ILAC accredited test reports from foreign laboratories issued within 2 years, they can now be accepted until December 31, 2023.

- Containing a new list of 7 product categories which will fall under Phase V. Applications can already be accepted even though the mandatory date is July 1, 2023, and test reports issued by ILAC accredited labs can be accepted until June 30, 2024.

- Extending the exemption of some parameters for Essential Requirements (ER) for Session border controllers, Precision Timing Protocol Grand Master Equipment and VHF UHF Radio System Equipment from June 30, 2023, until December 31, 2023. Also, exempting for Media Gateway, Mobile Radio Trunking System and Repeater for Cellular Network.

5. Starting December 1, Indonesia authority SDPPI will officially implement Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) testing. This means that only test reports issued by local SDPPI labs will be accepted. There will be a 2 years transition period where certificates can be issued with a statement letter that the product will be tested for SAR at an SDPPI lab and the SAR test report needs to be submitted within 2 weeks or the certificate will be cancelled. They will start with Mobile Phones, using the Head Test Method, and other products will follow.

6. El Salvador authority SIGET published Resolución T-0408-2023 on July 9, 2023, allowing WIFI 6GHz (5925-7125MHz) for unlicensed use by low power devices indoors.

7. On July 13, 2023, Brazil authority ANATEL published Act 9281, updating the technical requirements for Smart TV Box, and include test requirements for RF, EMC, Safety and Cyber security. This Act is now in effect, and will be mandatory starting September 11, 2023.

8. Brazil authority ANATEL published Act 7971, updating IPv6 requirements for products with WWAN, xPON, xDSL, and DOCSIS. The effective date is January 8, 2024.
