Norway PoHS Testing

CTI provides testing for the Prohibition on certain hazardous substances in consumer products (Norway PoHS) for all kinds of consumer products and their raw materials.

Norway PoHS Testing

◉ Service Background

In 2005, Norway amended its Product Regulations to add the requirements of the EU RoHS Directive to Chapter 3 of the Regulations, thereby implementing similar restrictions on hazardous substances for electrical and electronic products sold in its territory as in EU member states. On June 8, 2007, Norway submitted a TBT notification (G/TBT/N/NOR/17) to the WTO on the proposal of Prohibition on certain hazardous substances in consumer products (PoHS), which proposed to limit the content of 18 specific hazardous substances in homogeneous materials for consumer products. Once the proposal is passed, it will be added to Product Regulations as a separate chapter.

In December 2011, the Norwegian Ministry of Environment notified the WTO again and revised the PoHS proposal notified on June 8, 2007, intending to reduce the number of hazardous substances under control to four. It is required to prohibit the production, import, export or sale of consumer goods containing four special hazardous substances (Lead, PCP, MCCP and PFOA) if the content of hazardous substances in homogeneous parts of products is greater than or equal to the specified limit. Although the proposal has not yet come into effect, relevant enterprises have conducted early investigation and response.
