Biodegradation Testing

In recent years, the ubiquitous plastic products polluting the environmental is more and more serious, Europe, USA and China have launched the "Plastic limit order": The production and sale of some plastic products will be banned, green plastic products will be promoted, new form of industry will be explored, and recycling and disposal of plastic waste will be standardized, with special treatment for plastic waste. CTI can provide you with professional biodegradability testing service. Our test capacity covers disposable tableware, packing for express service, hotel supplies, resin and starch, plant fiber molding products to help enterprises control the quality and safety of materials.

Biodegradation Testing

◉    Service Background

At the beginning of 2020, the "China Plastic Restriction Order" triggered heated discussions. Plastic products can no longer be used arbitrarily."Plastic restriction orders" throughout the country have been upgraded successively, prohibiting the use of certain non-degradable plastic products.

In this context, the research and development of high-efficiency degradable plastics has become an important topic in the plastics and packaging industries, and  has become a global hot spot.

CTI provides professional biodegradable testing services based on different products to help companies control the quality and safety of materials.

◉    Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is biodegradation?

Biodegradation is a chemical process in which materials are metabolised to CO2, water, and biomass with the help of microorganisms. The process of biodegradation depends on the conditions (e.g. location, temperature, humidity, presence of microorganisms, etc.) of the specific environment (industrial composting plant, garden compost, soil, water, etc.) and on the material or application itself.

2. What are the common biodegradable plastics?

The most common biodegradable plastic is polylactic acid (PLA), others include: polybutylene succinate (PBS), polysuccinic acid-terephthalate-butylene glycol ester (PBAT), polybutylene Acid-adipate-butanediol ester (PBSA), polycaprolactone (PCL), starch-based plastics (Starch), polyglycolic acid (PGA), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyhydroxy fatty acid ester polymers (PHA) ,etc.
