Safety Data Sheet for Chemical Products (SDS)

SDS provides the information of chemicals including Substances and mixtures in terms of safety, health and environmental protection, recommends protective measures and emergency response measures, and is a carrier for chemical suppliers to transmit basic hazardous information of chemicals to downstream users. Enterprises should provide compliant SDS in the whole process of production, use, sale, operation and transportation of chemicals. CTI provides a one-stop service for material analysis and preparation of SDS.

Safety Data Sheet for Chemical Products (SDS)

◉    Service Background

‘Safety data sheet for chemical products’ (SDS) is also known as ‘Safety data sheet’ (SDS) in EU region and related countries.

In accordance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), China has formulated the standard GB/T 16483-2008 Safety data sheet for chemical products content and order of sections, in which defined SDS as Chemical safety technical manual’.

At present, EU, USA, Japan and other developed countries have generally established and implemented the SDS system, which requires manufacturers of dangerous chemicals to provide a safety data sheet for their products when they sell, transport or export them.

In China, the new ‘Regulations on the safety management of hazardous chemicals’ (Decree No. 591) issued by the State Council stipulates the mandatory use requirements of SDS and safety labels from the legal level. Chemical manufacturers should provide compliant SDS in the whole process of chemical production, use, sales, operation and transportation.

Chemical related enterprises should attach importance to SDS to ensure that the correct chemical information is transmitted to the government, operators, consumers and the public, so as to avoid the huge potential safety hazard and legal risk caused by the error of SDS information.
