In June and July 2022, the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) of EU has sent 29 validated notifications about disqualified FCM (Food Contact Materials) products through the system, 24 cases of which originated from China, 1 case from Germany, 1 case from Turkey, 1 case from Spain, 1 case from Italy, 1 case from unknow origin. The main reasons for violations were produts with plant fibers (10 cases), migration of primary aromatic amines above limits (6 cases), migration of formaldehyde above limits (3 cases), migration of lead and cadmium above limits (2 cases), migration of melamine above limits (2 cases), migration of 3-MCPD above limits (1 case), too high level of 4,4 MDA and 2,4-TDA (1 case), organoleptic changes (1 case), absence of declaration of compliance and documentation (1 case), danger of choking by swallowing (1 case), optical brighteners in paper straws (1 case).
